An Open Letter to my Unexpected Roommate: the Liz to my Jes

An open letter to my unexpected roommate; the Liz to my Jes,

I am going to be completely honest with you, I did not plan to have you in my life and I wasn't expecting everything that has happened with you to happen. You came into my life like a falling star ricocheting toward the ground; in an instant and all at once. The day I took the plunge and asked you (someone random at the time) to be my roommate, I never knew things would progress to what they have, but I'm not sure they could get any better than they already are.

Our friendship is one of a kind; where we are very opposite people but still have a sliver of each other deep down within ourselves. When we are able to dig up parts of ourselves that we never knew were there, that is how we know that what we have is beautiful. We have been searching for a term to describe our friendship and that is when we came up with #LizAndJes - you are the Liz to my Jes and I wouldn't want it any other way. For those of you who do not know about Liz and Jes, they are an extreme power couple but in a friend version. Let me take a second for you to get to know them because you're seriously missing out.

Liz is the one who thinks. It is important to her that things go as planned.  She is the type of person who considers every option when making a decision and does not typically go out on a whim and do crazy things. She always considers the "what ifs" over the "who cares".  Liz is the one who thinks rationally and goes out with the girls but sits back to watch and is there to save the day when she is needed (especially for Jes!). She is able to step out of her comfort zone every once in awhile though, and when she does it is epic, just like Jes.
 You are Liz.

"Do not take life too seriously, you will never get out alive." -Elbert Hubbarrd

Jes is the one who does. She gets an idea and does it whether it be calm or crazy, she does not care. She is the type of person who goes with her gut and the first best possible option. If it works, there doesn't need to be any other ways. Having fun and living life to the fullest is most important and having people around to be crazy and do it with her is even better. Jes jumps into everything with a bold attitude and determination to have a good time no matter how she gets it. She can also be serious when needed and can focus on the important things first, just like Liz.
I am Jes.

"Taking crazy things seriously is a serious waste of time." -Haruki Murakami

You make me a better person on a daily basis and as much as I hate your opinions sometimes, I am learning to embrace them because I can't deny that you have helped me grow a massive amount in such a short amount of time. Just like I hope you are learning to embrace my determination to make you care less and embrace your life to the fullest. I feel blessed because I have seen a girl that I don't think a lot of people have had the chance to see- the raw, hilarious, and care free girl that you decide to be on your own. Without my pushing. You are you and I am me, but we are also each other. We are Liz and Jes.

We all have a Liz to our Jes or a Jes to your Liz. Take a second and think about who is your other half or your partner in crime most typically one is always a Liz and the other is always a Jes. They say you find your lifelong friends in college and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks I may have found mine.
